Everyday Use

Open Howland, keep it open for your other devices, and keep it up to date.

2.1Open Howland

Open the app.
Start a conversation.
Ask a question, start a project, or open a folder to work in.
Open your library.
Choose the library to read books and reference material, or the map to explore offline.

2.2Keep it open for your phone

Your other devices work only while Howland is open on your main computer.

2.3Updates and startup

In Howland’s settings, turn Start Howland when I log in and Update Howland automatically on or off. To check now, choose Check for updates now.

2.4Find a problem

Symptom	Check
A device cannot connect	Confirm Howland is open on the main computer and both devices are on the same home network. Scan the code again or type the address.
A model is unavailable	Check that the model files finished downloading and the drive that holds them is connected.
A book is missing	Check its drive is connected and the archive is complete. See The offline library.

When reporting a problem, include the operating system, the action you tried and the relevant error. Remove tokens, personal file paths and private content from anything you share.
